Dowpharma PEGs

DowpharmaSM offers you a broad range of PEGs at standard and custom weights. We can also custom-design PEGs for your specific needs.

The activated PEGs that Dowpharma offers are propionaldehyde, p-nitro phenyl carbonate, maleimide, PEG amine and custom-designed PEG molecules in a wide range of linear molecular weights.

Quality Activated PEGs
Dowpharma starts with high quality mPEG alcohols, which is critical to the quality of the activated PEG.

Dowpharma activated PEGs have two critical characteristics: narrow polydispersity and very low levels of di-activated PEGs, which can save you time and money. Here’s why:

Polydispersity.
PEGs consist of individual chains that have a range of molecular weights. This range is described by the molecular weight distribution (MWD) or polydispersity (PD) of the polymer. In its simplest form, the MWD equals the weight average molecular weight (Mw) divided by the number average molecular weight (Mn).  In pharmaceutical applications, it is desirable to have a narrow polydispersity to reduce variability in the activity of the PEG conjugate.

PEG diol.
PEG diol is poly(ethylene) glycol that has two hydroxyl end-groups. It is an impurity formed in the process of polymerizing ethylene oxide to make mPEG alcohol. Activation of PEG diol creates activated PEGs that have two reactive groups, which couple or crosslink biopharmaceuticals. High levels of di-activated PEG reduce the yields of the desired mPEG conjugate and increase costs of purification.
