Dowpharma^SM is an established world leader in catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation. In addition, we have an exclusive license to the Trost allylic alkylation technology, and we are developing the area of asymmetric hydroformylation. Many of our ligands and catalysts are available from the Strem Chemical Catalogue for research use only. Commercial quantities are available directly from Dowpharma.

The benefits of chemocatalysis are to provide access to a wide range of enantiomerically pure compounds, both reproducibly and to allow an economically advantageous method for manufacturing. Asymmetric hydrogenation processes are particularly attractive for large-scale commercial production using simple reaction conditions consisting only of the substrate to be hydrogenated, solvent, hydrogen and a small amount of catalyst.
